Square CEO and Twitter who visited Nigeria and other Africa countries in November 2019 planned on spending up to six months in an Africa country in 2020.
Presently, his plan on staying in Africa has been cancelled due to the global COVID-19 outbreak, he further disclosed his decision on a tweet.
Twitter CEO officially revealed in a tweet about suspending his move to Africa, he stated:
When I tweeted about my intention to spend a few months in Africa this year, I made a mistake and should have provided more context about why.
I had been working on my plans where I’d work decentralized, as my team and I do when we travel, but in light of COVID-19 and everything else going on I need to reevaluate. Either way we’ll continue to pursue opportunities in Africa.
According to him, it wasn’t an intentional event but still stated it’s continuation in perusing opportunities in Africa countries.
Companies across the globe are increasingly reconsidering to change plans due to the trending novel coronavirus outbreak. More than 96,800 have been sickened with the flu-like illness, according to data compiled by Johns Hopkins University. At least 3,305 have died.
Twitter dropped on shares compared to what it was when Jack Dorsey returned as CEO in 2015. According to him he stated:
Some people talk about the slow pace of development at Twitter. The expectation is to see surface level changes, but the most impactful changes are happening below the surface. I’m talking about increased relevance.
But he clearly stated that the most important thing is relevant and also trying to make changes.
